The Love of Money is the Root of All Evil

In today’s materialistic world, people tend to forget what really matters. They tend to care about that next big purchase, or how they can’t wait for their big bonus check. Some people will do just about anything to score that extra dollar, no matter the cost. This is truly upsetting. As 1 Timothy 6:10 says, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil”. While this is true, there are also far more evil things out there that aren’t driven by the love of money.

It’s important to note that there is a difference between money being the root of all evil, and the love of money being the root of all evil. The first one, quite simply, isn’t true. There is nothing wrong money, by itself. It’s when your actions become drive based on your love of money, which can lead you down a corrupt path. The “love” of money is evil. That’s the misconception. Many people, many respected leaders themselves, have been quoted as saying “money is the root of all evil”. When you being to covet money is when you begin to stray from your faith, and lead yourself to many sorrows.

Men’s greedy love is the source of every sin. Many men have murdered, cheated, lied, robbed, gambled, ran brothels, bars, etc, all for the love money. Was it not Judas that sold his Master for the love of money? Judas is just one example as to why the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. His greed got the best of him.

It’s wrong to think of the immediate acquisition of money as the key to your happiness. The true key to your joy and endless possibilities is your faith in God. This deception is common in so many people today, until they finally hit rock bottom and realize what needs to be done. Money by itself is neither good nor evil. Its how money is used or pursed that decides its morality. When it is used in the declaration of mankind in a positive manner it becomes good. When we allow our values to be shaken by a piece of paper, then, and only then, it becomes the root of all evil.
